Massage can help to:
Ease muscular tension and tightness
Hands-on work on the muscles and soft tissues eases the tension that builds up from training, work and daily life.
Recover between training sessions
Sports massage supports recovery through a busy training block, so tightness is less likely to get in the way of your next session.
Relax and switch off
Swedish and Lomi Lomi massage use long, flowing strokes that many people find calming, especially if they find it hard to relax.
Feel more comfortable in pregnancy
Pregnancy massage is adapted for a changing body, with supported positioning and pressure kept comfortable for you.
Know when you need more than massage
If your symptoms point to an injury, we say so and guide you to a physiotherapy assessment so the cause is looked at properly.
David helped me when I started to have a strong tibia pain only 5 weeks before the marathon. I genuinely thought at some point that I wasn’t going to be able to do it and I did my PB!

Couldn’t recommend this physio team enough! They helped me recover from a knee injury 3 weeks before the London Marathon which I thought was going to prevent me from running it! Everyone was really friendly, supportive and genuinely cared about helping me reach my goal. Special thanks to Charlie, Gus, Brad and Stef!

I came to Dave with an ongoing injury that I’ve been struggling with for months! He helped sort it out straight away, also giving me some exercises to help target the area to get back to full strength. I’m now back to running pain-free already and training properly — I’ll definitely be recommending Kaizen Physiotherapy to my clients!

Gus worked miracles to get me running a marathon after being injured 6 weeks out. He worked out the issue really quickly and provided a clear and actionable plan to deal with it. The sports massages were the best I’ve ever had too — thanks Peggy! Can’t recommend Gus and Peggy enough.

I had such a positive experience working with Brad at Kaizen. He supported me through a meniscus tear and got me all the way back to running a half marathon and HYROX training. Everything was structured, progressive, and easy to follow, and I always felt like I was in safe hands.

What to expect
Consultation & preparation
Wear comfortable clothing and arrive a few minutes early. Eat normally beforehand and stay hydrated. Tell your therapist about any injuries, skin conditions, allergies, anticoagulant medication or pregnancy before the session begins, so the massage can be adapted or deferred if needed.
During treatment
Aftercare
Feeling relaxed, a little tired or mildly sore over the treated areas for a day is normal. Drink water, keep moving gently and avoid very hard training for around 24 hours after deeper work. Book a physiotherapy assessment if pain or other symptoms persist.

FAQ
FAQs
Which type of massage should I book?
Book sports massage for recovery from training or tightness, Swedish or Lomi Lomi for relaxation, and pregnancy massage if you are expecting. Cupping can be added for some clients. If you are unsure, book a standard massage and your therapist will help you choose the right approach at the start of the session.
How much does a massage cost at Kaizen?
Sports, pregnancy and Swedish massage all cost the same: £75 for 30 minutes, £130 for 60 minutes and £160 for 90 minutes. Lomi Lomi is priced separately at £170 for 90 minutes and £220 for 2 hours, as it uses more oil and is a very different style of massage.
Do I need a GP referral to book a massage?
No. Kaizen is a self-referral clinic, so you can book a massage directly online through our Jane page with no GP letter needed. If you hope to claim through private health insurance, check with your insurer first, as cover for massage varies. You pay for the session and claim back directly.
Is massage the same as physiotherapy?
No. Massage is hands-on treatment to ease tension, support recovery or help you relax. Physiotherapy is the full assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of an injury. Massage can support a physiotherapy plan but does not replace a diagnosis. If your symptoms suggest an injury, we recommend a physiotherapy assessment first.
