Cupping Therapy in London
Cupping with our massage therapist Peggy Grospiron, using gentle suction cups on the skin alongside massage to work on tight muscles and soft tissues.
- Self-referral; no GP letter needed.
Cupping can help to:
Work on tight muscles
Used alongside massage, cupping gives your therapist another way to work on areas that feel tight.
Add variety to your massage
Cupping can be combined with massage in the same session, so you get both techniques in one visit.
Have treatment matched to your comfort
Suction is adjusted to what feels right for you, and your therapist checks in with you throughout.
Know what to expect afterwards
You are told in advance about the marks cupping can leave and how long they usually take to fade.
Know when you need more than massage
If your symptoms point to an injury, we say so and guide you to a physiotherapy assessment so the cause is looked at properly.
Our cupping team
David helped me when I started to have a strong tibia pain only 5 weeks before the marathon. I genuinely thought at some point that I wasn’t going to be able to do it and I did my PB!

Couldn’t recommend this physio team enough! They helped me recover from a knee injury 3 weeks before the London Marathon which I thought was going to prevent me from running it! Everyone was really friendly, supportive and genuinely cared about helping me reach my goal. Special thanks to Charlie, Gus, Brad and Stef!

I came to Dave with an ongoing injury that I’ve been struggling with for months! He helped sort it out straight away, also giving me some exercises to help target the area to get back to full strength. I’m now back to running pain-free already and training properly — I’ll definitely be recommending Kaizen Physiotherapy to my clients!

Gus worked miracles to get me running a marathon after being injured 6 weeks out. He worked out the issue really quickly and provided a clear and actionable plan to deal with it. The sports massages were the best I’ve ever had too — thanks Peggy! Can’t recommend Gus and Peggy enough.

I had such a positive experience working with Brad at Kaizen. He supported me through a meniscus tear and got me all the way back to running a half marathon and HYROX training. Everything was structured, progressive, and easy to follow, and I always felt like I was in safe hands.

Patient journey
What to expect
Consultation & preparation
Wear comfortable clothing that lets the treatment area be exposed. Eat normally beforehand and stay hydrated. Tell your therapist about any skin conditions, bleeding disorders, blood-thinning medication or pregnancy, and mention any upcoming event where visible marks would be a problem.
During treatment
Aftercare
Round marks or bruising where the cups were placed are common and usually fade over a few days. Drink water, keep the area comfortable and avoid very hot baths or saunas for the rest of the day. Contact the clinic if the skin blisters or any discomfort does not settle.
FAQ
FAQs
What is cupping therapy?
Cupping uses cups placed on the skin to create gentle suction, lifting the skin and the tissue beneath it. The cups are either left in place for a few minutes or moved across the skin with oil. At Kaizen, cupping is offered by our massage therapist Peggy Grospiron, often within a sports massage session.
Will cupping leave marks?
Often, yes. Cupping commonly leaves round marks or bruising where the cups were placed. These are usually painless and fade over a few days. If you have an event, photoshoot or holiday coming up, mention it when booking so your therapist can plan around it or suggest a different date.
Does cupping hurt?
Most people describe cupping as a pulling or tight sensation rather than pain. The suction can be adjusted, so tell your therapist straight away if anything feels too strong. Some tenderness over the treated area for a day or so is normal and usually settles without any need for treatment.
Who should not have cupping?
Cupping is not suitable over broken, infected or very sensitive skin, or for people with a bleeding disorder or taking blood-thinning medication without advice from their prescriber. If you are pregnant, tell us when booking. Your therapist checks your health before every session and will not go ahead if it is unsuitable.
