Pregnancy Massage can help to:

Ease tension in the back and shoulders

Gentle massage can ease the tightness that often builds in the back, neck and shoulders as your posture and body change.

Rest and relax

A quiet session in a supported position gives you time to slow down and rest during a busy period.

Feel more comfortable in your body

Massage to the hips and legs can help you feel more comfortable, with pressure always kept gentle.

Have your pregnancy taken into account

Your therapist asks about your pregnancy before every session and adapts the massage to how you are feeling on the day.

Know when to speak to your midwife

If anything you mention needs checking, your therapist will pause and advise you to speak to your midwife or GP first.

David helped me when I started to have a strong tibia pain only 5 weeks before the marathon. I genuinely thought at some point that I wasn’t going to be able to do it and I did my PB!

Couldn’t recommend this physio team enough! They helped me recover from a knee injury 3 weeks before the London Marathon which I thought was going to prevent me from running it! Everyone was really friendly, supportive and genuinely cared about helping me reach my goal. Special thanks to Charlie, Gus, Brad and Stef!

I came to Dave with an ongoing injury that I’ve been struggling with for months! He helped sort it out straight away, also giving me some exercises to help target the area to get back to full strength. I’m now back to running pain-free already and training properly — I’ll definitely be recommending Kaizen Physiotherapy to my clients!

Gus worked miracles to get me running a marathon after being injured 6 weeks out. He worked out the issue really quickly and provided a clear and actionable plan to deal with it. The sports massages were the best I’ve ever had too — thanks Peggy! Can’t recommend Gus and Peggy enough.

I had such a positive experience working with Brad at Kaizen. He supported me through a meniscus tear and got me all the way back to running a half marathon and HYROX training. Everything was structured, progressive, and easy to follow, and I always felt like I was in safe hands.

Patient journey

What to expect

Consultation & preparation

Tell us you are pregnant when you book. Wear comfortable clothing, eat a light meal beforehand and stay hydrated. Bring any relevant notes from your midwife or GP, and tell your therapist about any complications, symptoms or medication before the session begins.

During treatment

Aftercare

Get up slowly at the end of the session, as some people feel lightheaded after lying down. Drink water and rest if you can. Contact your midwife or GP straight away if you notice bleeding, pain, reduced movements or any symptom that worries you.

FAQs

Can I have a massage while pregnant?

Yes. In the first trimester, we offer pregnancy massage only if you have no complications and no history of miscarriage. Tell us you are pregnant when you book, and your therapist will ask about your pregnancy and, if needed, suggest you check with your midwife or GP first. If you have any complications or concerns, speak to your midwife or GP before booking.

How will I lie during a pregnancy massage?

Your therapist uses cushions and supported positions so you stay comfortable, often lying on your side as your bump grows. You can change position at any time. Tell your therapist if you feel uncomfortable, dizzy or unwell, and they will adjust the position or pause the session straight away.

How much does a pregnancy massage cost?

Pregnancy massage costs the same as our other standard massages: £75 for 30 minutes, £130 for 60 minutes and £160 for 90 minutes. The 30-minute session can be booked online through Jane. If you hope to claim through insurance, check with your insurer first, as cover for massage varies.

When should I not have a pregnancy massage?

Speak to your midwife or GP first if you have bleeding, pain, severe swelling, headaches or vision changes, a high-risk pregnancy, or any symptom that worries you. Calf pain with swelling or warmth needs urgent medical advice. Your therapist will not go ahead if anything suggests you should be checked first.
