What are the most common ski injuries?
Knee injuries
Ligament injuries such as an ACL rupture are common. You can also get meniscal tears and hamstring injuries.
Shoulder injuries
Shoulder dislocations are common due to the risk of falling onto the shoulder. Rotator cuff injuries can also come from falls.
Fractures
Wrist, shoulder and leg fractures can occur due to the impact of ski falls and collisions.
Skiers thumb
Caused by incorrect use of ski poles applying excessive stress to the thumb.
Head injuries
All head impacts should be assessed immediately to rule out concussion or more serious head injuries.
Neck and Back pain
Commonly caused by ill-fitting or heavy rucksacks. Can also be due to repeated falling over.
Unfortunately, depending on the severity, these injuries can have long lasting impact on your day to day life. By accessing physiotherapy in a timely manner, we can help minimise pain and mobility issues. Our first appointment will be include detailed questioning and thorough physical testing to get to the root of your problem.
We will go through some ski specific movement screening and use electronic strength testing to provide objective physical information for you.

After identifying the problem, we will discuss available treatment options and personalise your care. Ensuring you are satisfied and on the path to recovery!
The exercises provided will be ski specific, optimising your rehabilitation journey.

We will always send you your exercises via email. You will get access to videos of what you need to work on, including how many times you need to do them.

When necessary, we provide summary reports and clinical information to your doctors, ensuring all the necessary health care professionals are in close contact for the duration of your treatment.

We work closely with some of London’s finest in the health and wellbeing sector. If you work with a trainer, we will always send a progress report to them. Ensuring you are well looked after and continue exercising whilst on your path to recovery.

We have multiple years of experience dealing with musculoskeletal injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Gus is fluent in French and has spent a season working in Courchevel as a physiotherapist. With our experience of managing injuries on the slopes, coupled with our knowledge on how to manage them once back home, Kaizen Physiotherapy & Performance is well placed to advise you on how to manage your injury!
We can provide a 30 minute video/telephone consultation to advise you on certain issues you may have after injury.
Kaizen Physiotherapy & Performance has teamed up with several Orthopaedic consultants from the Fortius clinic to provide advice leaflets on how to manage common injuries. And we can help answer certain tricky answers around what should be treated in France vs what can be sorted back home.
